  • Characterised by high precision cutting, narrow cutting width and minimal costs for saw blades.
  • For the automatic sawing of thin-walled metal tubes, mbs has now completed the first machine of the new generation of MM orbital saws as a turnkey solution. It includes the feeding of the tubes from the inclined loading magazine, the sawing unit rotating around the tube axis and the removal of the sections until they are transferred to a robot.
  • Orbital saws have two small, thin saw blades that are offset by 180° in the sawing unit and only dip slightly into the pipe cross-section. As a result, they achieve a high level of material efficiency and significantly greater cutting precision due to the exact guidance. This cutting method is also extremely cost-effective.
  • The system works with a positioning accuracy of the ball screw of +/- 0.07 mm. This makes it suitable, for example, for pipe sections that are subsequently automatically welded to flanges and where the gap dimension must be precisely maintained. Another advantage of the orbital saw is that the round contour of the filter tubes is retained despite the wall thickness of just 0.7 mm. Both the precise clamping of the pipes and the small diameter of the saw blades contribute to this.
  • The small thickness of the saw blades results in considerable cost savings, especially when cutting rings, as the shorter the sections, the greater the cost of the saw cut width.
